Background: We purchased our 2010 as a family car and my main goal is fuel economy. May do a couple of appearance mods. Funds are kind of tight with a wife and two kids.

Me neither. I can't wait to make this work since so many people say that it doesn't and I will.

I haven't had time to get under and gut the car (newborn) but I have noticed one that goes into the wheel well, I just don't like that long, swooping down bend. I'm trying to keep it short and straight. (no homo)

Note:

Reworking parts of the intake that create turbulence to reduce air resistance. <- bend
Providing a more direct route to the air intake by eliminating muffling devices. <- bend
Shortening the length of the intake. <- bend
Placing the intake duct so as to use the ram-air effect to give positive pressure at speed. <- this is also an option would have to be custom fabricated by a shop

This is the basics I used when considering a CAI.

Update:

I wont be using either intake, I'll be making my own. First, there will be 3'' spectre tubing going from the front facia, up to the box where there will be a coupler + cone in the box to avoid warranty issues, for now (bumper to bumper is 3 yrs/36K miles and the car is at 2 yrs/31k miles) getting closer....

Got some time to dig and do some more planning...

Resonator - will be gone eventually

Update:

Due to income restrictions and the fact that 2.4 + intake = problems (w/o tune, which also runs 91 octane = $$), I will not be doing any form of intake. Just a K&N drop in. I've talked to Mancosman and he said there is no way to separate the engine cover and intake, then replace the intake for 2 separate pieces, I may just eventually paint the entire piece or accent the lines in the cover(s), we'll see.

But I do plan on getting Tint (for the children; appearance), eagle eye headlights (better output, visibility, weather conditions; appearance), fog lights (visibility; weather conditions; appearance)

But You can do this!

with a k&n drop in which will work witout the tune and youll feel a difference in your engine when getting on the gas
